NCPetLove Needs Your Help
We’re building a clear, easy-to-understand Guidance Library for pet owners, and we need your help. If you have experience with animals—whether as a pet owner, volunteer, veterinary professional, or student—you can help us create simple, trustworthy resources that make a real difference.

At NCPetLove, we believe that better knowledge leads to better care—and better outcomes for pets and the people who love them. We are building a Guidance Library designed to help pet owners understand the essentials of animal care in a clear, practical, and approachable way. Many people simply don’t know what they don’t know—whether it’s recognizing early signs of illness, understanding proper nutrition, knowing when to seek veterinary care, or handling everyday situations safely and responsibly.
This is where you come in. We'd like you to help us turn experience into guidance—and guidance into better lives for pets. We invite members of the NCPetLove community to help us build this library by contributing their knowledge, experience, and insights. You do not need to be an expert to help—but if you are, your voice is especially valuable.
We are particularly interested in hearing from:
Veterinarians and veterinary technicians
Veterinary and pre-veterinary students
Rescue workers and shelter volunteers
Experienced pet owners with practical knowledge to share
Your contribution might include:
Writing or reviewing short guidance articles
Sharing real-world tips and best practices
Helping simplify complex topics into easy-to-understand language
Suggesting topics that pet owners need most
Our goal is not to overwhelm people with information, but to equip them with the right knowledge at the right time, presented in a clear, supportive, and easy-to-use way. If you have knowledge to share—or even just a willingness to help shape this effort—we would love to connect with you.

Volunteer Days & Adoption Support — Forsyth Humane Society
Every day, animals arrive at Forsyth Humane Society without understanding why their world has suddenly changed. They come from different circumstances—some lost, some surrendered, some rescued from difficult situations—but they all share one thing in common: they need someone to show them kindness, patience, and hope.

Volunteering here isn’t just about helping a shelter run smoothly—it’s about becoming a steady, reassuring presence in an animal’s life during one of its most uncertain moments. A short walk, a few minutes of play, or simply sitting quietly with a nervous cat can begin to rebuild trust that may have been broken. These small, human moments matter more than most people realize. They help animals relax, show their true personalities, and ultimately become more adoptable.
And it’s not just the animals who benefit.
Volunteers often find that the experience gives back just as much as it asks. There’s something deeply grounding about stepping into a space where your time has immediate, visible impact. You see progress. You feel connection. You become part of something meaningful—helping match animals with families who will love them for the rest of their lives.
There are many ways to get involved, and no prior experience is needed. Whether you prefer being hands-on with animals, helping at adoption events, or supporting behind the scenes, there’s a role that fits your comfort level and schedule. Even a few hours a month can make a real difference.
If you’ve ever thought about volunteering but weren’t sure where to start, this is a place where your presence truly matters. You don’t need to be an expert—you just need to care.
Because for these animals, your time isn’t just helpful. It’s life-changing.
What volunteers do:
- Assist at adoption events (setup, greeting visitors, helping match pets)
- Walk dogs and provide enrichment
- Socialize cats and help reduce stress in shelter animals
- Support outreach and community education
Why this matters:
Volunteers directly improve animals’ chances of being adopted by keeping them social, healthy, and visible to the public. Even a few hours can make a real difference.
How to get involved:
They offer structured volunteer programs and onboarding, and they are always looking for new volunteers to support both daily operations and special events.
